Introduction:Aspen Medical has an exciting opportunity for Cardiac Anesthesiologists to partner with us in providing temporary contracted medical services to Veterans Hospital throughout the United States, Guam, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. Responsibilities: Cardiac Anesthesiologist specialize in providing anesthesia and care for patients undergoing cardiac, thoracic, or vascular surgery.
Monitoring and restoration of homeostasis during the perioperative period, as well as homeostasis in the critically ill, injured, or otherwise seriously ill patient
Assessment of, consultation for, and preparation of patients for anesthesia including pre-operative patient exam and assessment
Supervision, teaching, and evaluation of performance of both medical and paramedical personnel in anesthesia, respiratory, and critical care
Provision of insensibility to pain during surgical, therapeutic, and diagnostic procedures and the management of patients so affected
Clinical management and teaching of cardiac and pulmonary resuscitation. Evaluation of respiratory function and application of respiratory therapy in all its forms
Supervision, teaching, and evaluation of performance of both medical and paramedical personnel in anesthesia, respiratory, and critical care
Conduct of research and collaboration in research efforts at the clinical and basic science level to proactively identify gaps in evidence and practice, then measure the impact of filling these gaps and linking evidence to practice. Relevant research findings and quality improvement results can then be systematically fed back to providers and patients, as appropriate
Participates in in-service training programs and maintains competencies
On-call coverage is required

Essential Qualifications
United States Citizenship
Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia
Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed
Physicians must have completed residency training, approved by the Secretary of the Veterans Affairs in Anesthesiology in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification
The American Heart Association (AHA) BLS and ACLS required
The candidate should have completed an accredited Anesthesiology program in the United States and be board certified/Board Eligible by the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA)
Minimum of two years of current experience, 3 years preferred
English Language Proficiency. Spanish Language is a plus
