Introduction:  Aspen Medical has an exciting opportunity for Nurse Practitioners to partner with us in providing temporary contracted medical services to Military Treatment Facilities throughout the United States. Today’s posting will place you at the primary location of the Women’s Health Department on Buckley Air Force Base. Location: United States, Aurora, CO.  

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Degree: Master's degree in nursing
  • Education: Graduate from an academic program, within the nursing specialty field of study that is accredited by a regional or national nursing accrediting agency recognized by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE)
  • Certifications in addition to Basic Life Support: In addition to BLS, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) through the American Heart Association or a Red Cross-approved training program
  • Certification: Certified in the specialty required by the TO as a Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), or the recognized national nursing certification organization for the specialty area of practice as appropriate (for example, National Certification Board of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and Nurses, American Nurses Association, National Certification Corporation for the Obstetric, Gynecologic and Neonatal Specialties)
  • Experience: As required to meet clinical competency requirements specified in the Service-specific credentialing instructions
  • Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse
Core Duties:
  • Provide a full range of outcome-based nurse practitioner services under privileges granted by the MTF (e.g., supervise and provide general screening and medical care and examinations of patients for routine, acute and chronic conditions involving any organ systems; provide immunizations; diagnose, treat, and counsel patients as indicated)
  • Technically direct and teach other staff, provide evidenced-based educational lectures, and participate in in-service training to staff members
  • Diagnose and treat patients with common acute conditions, chronic illnesses, or minor trauma within accepted protocols, clinical practice guidelines, Nurse Practice Acts, and/or in consultation with a physician
  • Promote preventive care and health maintenance including annual physicals, positive health behaviors and self-care through both formal and individual education and counseling
  • Communicate and collaborate with a diverse group of people to inform the healthcare team of plans/actions, for teaching/education to benefit the patient/family and organization
  • Recognize conditions that require isolation and ensure universal precautions are used in all patient encounters
  • Attend staff meetings to provide case discussion, continuing education, and continuous quality improvement and safety

Hours of Performance/Schedule:
Hours of Performance/Schedule: The performance (duty) hours of the MTF are as follows: Duty hours will vary by position and location; however, typical duty hours are scheduled between 0700 -1700, Monday through Friday. Hours are subject to change and may include nights and weekends. In the event, the HCW is required to work beyond their scheduled duty hours for any reason, the duty hours will be adjusted within the current pay period; the HCWs shall not work more than 40 hours per week. The performance (duty) hours are as follows: Buckley Space Force Base, Monday through Friday, 0730-1630.

Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to walk, stand, and bend for 6-8 hours per day
  • Able to distinguish between basic colors
  • Must be able to read and interpret handwritten and typewritten print
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers in stressful situations
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background investigation and undergo urine drug testing
  • Advanced medical and anatomical skills
  • Knowledge of general surgery practices
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong motor skills and manual dexterity
  • Ability to work long and irregular hours
  • Advanced analytical skills and attention to detail
